NRB gets new deputy governors

Published by on December 27, 2010

The government has appointed executive director duo Gopal Prasad Kafle and Maha Prasad Adhikari as the deputy governors of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).

The cabinet meeting held on Sunday took the decision to fulfill the vacant posts.

Prior to the appointment, Kafle was the chief of Micro-finance Department of the central bank, while Adhikari was heading the Bank and Financial Institutions Regulation Department.

A post of deputy governor was lying vacant for the last 10 months following the retirement of deputy governor Krishna Bahadur Manandhar. Similarly, the other post had become vacant after deputy governor Bir Bikram Rayamajhi retired last week due to age limit.

Kafle had joined NRB as an officer about three decades ago. He holds a Masters degree in Economics from Tribhuwan University and University of New England, Australia. Adhikari, who joined the central bank 27 years back, is a chartered accountant.
