LCD TV sets for FIFA World Cup in Rise

The LCD TV craze has swept the country. Many people are replacing their old CRT sets with new sleek LCD sets. With FIFA World Cup Football tournament kicking off in a few days, more and more people are going for LCD sets to get theatre experience in their homes. Another factor behind rising popularity of LCD sets is its reasonable price tags.

Punita Upadhyaya, sales executive at Samsung Plaza, said LCD sets are equally popular among upper class and middle class people. “Even middle class people can now afford to have a LCD set as the price has come down. It is a also available in attractive installment schemes,” she added.

LA32C350 and LA32B550 models are the top selling LCD sets at Samsung Plaza, according to Upadhyaya.

LCD sets are popular as they have qualities on par with plasma television sets, reproduce colors more vividly and are available in comparatively cheaper price tags. LCD display technology is more than just a television screen, thanks to latest developments in LCD display technology.

“Large LCD televisions are making a greater market impact as they are becoming a very desirable alternative for conference and other functions too,” said Subash Chandra Shrestha, showroom chief of Sony Showroom at Kantipath. He also said falling price range could be another reason behind the rising demand for LCD panels.

Shrestha informed that 32 inch LCD set by Sony is doing remarkably well in the market.

Philips showroom in Kantipath is also seeing rise in the demand for LCD TVs.

Tej Shrestha of Syakar Company - the authorized distributor of Philips products in the country - said the popularity of LCD sets is on the rise due to performance improvements such as improved screen uniformity, better off-angle viewing, deeper blacks, more accurate colors, higher refresh rates, improved LCD response times and high contrast ratios.

“Reduction in prices is another reason behind growing popularity of LCD sets in Nepal,” Shrestha added.

Syakar has been selling Philips LCD sets imported from Singapore. Philips LCD sets come with two-year parts warranty and three-year service warranty.
