Hoteliers ready to invest more

Published by on June 21, 2009

Hoteliers have pledged to invest heavily in the tourism sector if the government creates a conducive environment.

During their meeting with Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal on Friday, hoteliers expressed their readiness to make further investments to make Nepal Tourism Year 2011 a success, a press statement of Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN) said. The delegation led by its president Prasiddha Pandey, also reminded the PM that the private sector had invested Rs. 150 billion in the hotel sector. Given the sensitivity of this sector, they asked for flexible labour law. “Strikes in the hotel sector should be prohibited by putting it under the Essential Service Act,” the delegation demanded.

They also asked that NAC be run in partnership with the private sector.
